FAQ
Q1. Is this a homeschool team or public school team? Can players from private schools join the team?
A1. We are an independent high school team. We welcome athletes from public, charter, private and home schools as well as other alternative schools. Players must be legitimately enrolled in a high school program.
Q2. Is the Sandhills Titans a recreational team?
A2. No, this is high school football. We play private and public high school teams.
Q3. How can I register?
A3. Athletes interested in joining the Titans should contact us, and we will provide a registration form. Registering does not guarantee that a player will make the team. This is a competitive team and we select the best players we can for the program. Some players may be cut after tryouts.
Q4. Where will you practice and play games?
A4. The Titans are blessed to have a beautiful modern high school football facility. We practice and play our games at Reid Ross Classical School in Fayetteville. See our location by clicking here. Because of our mission to provide high school football opportunities in a Christian environment to kids across central North Carolina, we are not associated with any one community. The Sandhills area is thought of as one of the strongest high school football regions in the state, and the core of our players come from Fayetteville, Southern Pines, Sanford and surrounding areas. However, we expect and welcome players from outside this area.
Q5. Does it cost money to play for the Titans?
A5. Yes. There is a player fee and additional costs associated with being a Titan, which are required for every player. However, the team does offer opportunities for players to raise funds to pay these costs, and also offers limited scholarships to families who are able to demonstrate financial need. Contact us to learn more.
Q6. Do you have a Junior Varsity team?
A6. Yes, we currently are registering players for JV football as well as varsity. If we have enough support for a JV program, we will have a team.
Q7. Do you offer cheerleading?
A7. We do have a cheerleading program. If you are interested in being a cheerleader, or leading / assisting in our cheer program, please contact us.
Q8. What are the eligibility requirements for the Titans?
A8. Players must be at least 14 years old and no older than 18 years old on Aug. 1 of the football season. All players must be student-athletes, legitimately enrolled in high school (public, private or home school) with acceptable attendance and academic performance for the duration of the football season.
Q9. If you are a Christian organization, why don't you accept all players and provide equal playing time for everyone?
A9. We believe God gave us a competitive nature. Although it may involve challenges, we want to provide a truly competitive high school football experience for our players in a Christ-centered environment.
Q10. I go to a public high school with a team. Can I still play for the Titans?
A10. We require players and parents to discuss football options with their school coach before approaching the Titans. Players who are eligible to play at their school, but are unhappy with its program or coaching, must attempt to resolve any issues with the school program before trying out for the Titans. If a player is ineligible to play at his high school but might be eligible with the Titans, we will welcome him to try out.
Q11. How can I try out for the Titans?
A11. The first step is check eligibility. We encourage potential players who are eligible to contact us and register for one of our combines. The combine will be a skill assessment session and is part of the tryout process.
Q12. What is the biggest difference between the Titans and many other high school football teams?
A12. The Titans is a Christian ministry which will expose players to Christian and biblical values throughout the program. Devotions are held at each practice. We will help our players grow in their faith and character as well as their football ability. Coaches and staff will practice a disciplined approach, with no cursing or vulgar language, music or activities allowed. Titans are expected to follow the Player Code of Conduct, faithfully attend and give 100-percent effort during practices and games, keep a good attitude, and show respect for their coaches, fellow players, opposing team coaches and players, referees, and themselves. Titans standards are high, and we will hold our players to the standards, whether the player is a Christian or not. Players who consistently fail to meet the standards are likely to be cut from the team.
